Who we work with, what you should know, and how to get help

Counseling Services

Counseling Services EDTC accepts most behavioral health insurance plans for our counseling services. We understand that treatment for eating disorders and other behavioral health issues can sometimes create a financial burden. Our Client Services Representative, will be happy to help you verify your insurance benefits and determine your portion of the cost for our services. EDTC will file insurance claims for you with your primary, and in some cases, secondary insurance provider. Our Patient Accounts Manager will work with you to resolve claim disputes with your insurance if necessary. However, clients (or their designated financially responsible party) are ultimately responsible for payment for services provided. To help our clients get the help they need, we are contracted as in-network behavioral health counseling providers with the following Albuquerque area and national insurance companies:

We can still help if your insurance is not one of those listed above!

EDTC can submit claims for our services on your behalf as out-of-network providers for most of the other major insurance carriers. Some of the other insurance carriers we work with as an out-of-network provider are:

  • Educational Markets
  • Care Improvement Plus
  • HealthSmart Preferred
  • Regional Care Inc.
  • UNM Student Health Plan (AIG)
  • Employee Benefits Management System
  • Group Administrators

Please check with your insurance provider to verify your personal coverage benefits, and don’t hesitate to contact us for help in working with your provider if you need it!

iNTENSIVE oUTPATIENT pROGRAMS

Many of the insurance providers in the Albuquerque area provide significant financial support for EDTC’s Intensive Outpatient Programs for eating disorders. IOPs are a very important and proven successful type of treatment program. Some insurance plans require a single case agreement prior to the start of the program and we have been successful in getting these agreements approved. Also, in keeping with our philosophy for treating those in need who do not have insurance benefits, or have limited coverage for behavioral health, we can work with our clients to arrange financing plans for this program too.

Nutrition Services

In most cases, EDTC can also accept your health insurance plan for nutrition counseling sessions. We are contracted for nutritional services and counseling as in-network providers with the following commercial insurance plans:

  • Aetna
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • Cigna
  • New Mexico Health Connections
  • Presbyterian Health Plan
  • True Health New Mexico

Nutritional Services are considered a Medical not Mental or Behavioral Health service by most insurance companies. Our Client Services Representative can work with you to determine if Nutritional Services can also be covered as an out-of-network benefit under other insurance companies.

Unfortunately, Registered Dietitian Services are not a covered benefit under any of the Centennial Medicaid Insurance Plans in New Mexico.

Additional financial assesstance for those in need

Please do not go without the treatment you need because of money. For those with no insurance, or those having an insurance policy with a very high deductible and/or copayment amount,  or those in need of financial assistance for other reasons, we have therapist interns who can help you for a nominal fee. Our interns are carefully screened, highly competent graduate students or recent graduates in Clinical Counseling working directly under the supervision of Holly Finlay, our Clinical Director.

We can work out affordable payment options for clients who do not have behavioral or mental health insurance benefits, or choose to pay out of pocket.
