Atanah Shannon

Mental Health Technician & Counseling Intern

My name is Atanah and I am an intern with EDTC and have also been working with the company for over 3 years as a behavioral health technician. I graduated from East Mountain High School in Sandia Park in 2018, where I took dual credit courses to kickstart my interest in psychology. I attended UNM for my undergraduate B.A. in psychology with a minor in Spanish. I also took many studio art courses during my time at UNM to enhance my knowledge and skills related to creativity, art, and art making. Beginning in 2023, I have been working on dual master’s degrees in counseling and art therapy at Southwestern College and New Earth Institute in Santa Fe; I plan to graduate in 2026 and to become an outstanding art therapist at EDTC.

At home, I love to hike and be in nature. I have a passion for ecotherapy and using nature as art materials in my practice. Additionally, I am an avid reader and artist. I also have two cats and one dog, who are my whole world outside of work.
